Sustainable Ocean Leadership Institute (SOLI) Preview Workshop

Sustainable Ocean Leadership Institute (SOLI) Preview Workshop:

Join industry, government and NGO leaders from around the world to learn how to address the impact of climate change on seafood production.

Sunday 9 June | 6:30 – 18:30

Register by emailing workshop price is US$199. Price covers food and transportation for the day. Registration and fees are separate from the SeaWeb Seafood Summit.

Overview: Seafood production in Southeast Asia is challenged by a need to support the immediate needs of local people and realising sustainable fisheries development. There is significant tension between these two challenges, which are now being exacerbated by the impact of climate change. However, by understanding these challenges it may be possible for leaders in the global seafood industry to identify solutions and trade-offs to facilitate permanent cultural change that meets the needs of local communities.

The purpose of the SOLI workshop is to give you a preview the SOLI program and to deepen your understanding of how climate change is effecting seafood production in the region.

About Sustainable Ocean Leadership Institute (SOLI)

Launching in 2020 at Seafood Expo North America in Boston, the core of SOLI is four 2.5-day workshops linked to global conferences. These sessions will combine classroom learning to provide a firm grounding in climate change science with local field trips to see how businesses and governments are taking action to address climate change.

  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with 25 industry, NGO and government leaders from around the world who are grappling with how to lead on climate change.
  • Hands-on experience developing and implementing practical climate change solutions via a capstone project you work on with your classmates.
  • Full access to materials created for future years of the program, deepening your knowledge of climate change and other critical ocean issues.
