Ukkrit Satapoomin received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1989 (Marine Science) and his Master of Science degree in 1993 (Marine Biology) from the Department of Marine Science at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
Currently, Satapoomin is the Director of Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute under Thailand's Department of Marine and Coastal Resources. From 2015 – 2017, Satapoomin was a Marine and Coastal Resources Management Specialist, and prior to that, from 2012 – 2015, Satapoomin was the Director of the Phuket Marine Biological Center. From 1991 – 2012, Satapoomin was a Fisheries Biologist at the Phuket Marine Biological Center.
Satapoomin has specific research interests in fish taxonomy and ecology, and coastal and marine resources management.
