Scott Nichols likes to talk about, cook and eat fish. To ensure he’d continue to be able to do that, he started Food’s Future, a consultancy, to help businesses create economically and environmentally sustainable aquaculture ventures that raise the seafood our expanding world needs. Prior to founding Food's Future, Scott was co-founder and managing director at Verlasso Harmoniously Raised Fish. There, he led Verlasso to develop new farming practices that resulted in Verlasso becoming the first ocean-raised salmon to receive a buy ranking from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program which recognizes environmentally responsible aquaculture practices. In recognition of his efforts to communicate the value of sustainable seafood, he was named the 2015 Seafood Marketer of the Year by IntraFish. Scott is a Board member of the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC). Scott’s education includes a Ph.D. in biochemistry from UCLA and, the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of Business. Scott speaks regularly on how aquaculture must expand rapidly and with ever-increasing sustainability to produce the food our world will soon demand. Recent addresses include the Environmental Defense Fund, SeaWeb Seafood Summit, Fortune Brainstorm Green, the Global Ocean Action Summit, University of North Carolina, Duke University, University of Chicago and the Wharton School.
