Mercedes Fernández is the project officer of the Horizon 2020 research project PrimeFish (http://www.primefish.eu). Working for the Spanish research foundation CETMAR, she participates in this international project, joining partners from Europe, Canada and Vietnam with the goal of enhancing the competitiveness of the fisheries and aquaculture sectors. PrimeFish has analyzed the economic performance, value chains and market trends of salmon, cod, herring, seabass, seabream and pangasius, taking into account the role of sustainability in seafood consumption. The project will deliver a maket intelligence tool, PrimeDSS, enabling a customized access to its research outcomes in 2019.
With an academic background in Journalism and a specialization in multimedia tools, she has experience in media outlets (television and newspaper), and in PR departments. She participates in science journalists’ associations with the aim of supporting a consistent and engaging dialogue between media and scientists.
