Senior Campaigner/Researcher - Environmental Justice Foundation

Biography

Dominic Thomson has worked with EJF on its oceans and human rights campaign since 2015 – focusing on the fishing industries in Thailand and Taiwan as well as interviewing migrant fishermen from across Southeast Asia. He specialises in vessel monitoring, fisheries management and labour inspections. In Thailand, he has worked with a variety of stakeholders involved in the fishing industry including the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Labour, local civil society, and industry representatives.

More recently Dominic has been exploring innovative methods of tackling plastic and other forms of debris and preventing this refuse from entering our waterways and seas. This involves using community-based recycling machines to tackle plastic pollution before it can enter the natural environment and also collecting used and discarded fishing nets to be recycled and upcycled into new products.
