Christina Dixon is Global Campaign Manager at World Animal Protection and co-coordinator of the Solutions Working Group of the Global Ghost Gear Initiative. Since 2014 she has been focussed on catalysing and replicating sustainable solutions to the problem of abandoned, lost and otherwise discarded fishing gear in a range of environments through supporting new projects, advocacy, research and connecting experts. As well as working on a project funded by the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations to explore the challenges posed by lost and abandoned gillnets in small-scale Indonesian fisheries she has collated research into different approaches for collecting and recycling end of life fishing nets and worked on efforts to mark and track fish aggregating devices in the Pacific. She works closely with the industry to implement best practices for fishing gear management and promote holistic solution projects focussed on addressing ghost gear within seafood supply chains.
