Fish Talk: How Do We Have Useful Conversations About Seafood?
Per capita consumption of french fries in the United States is twice what it is for seafood. We should eat more fish. This is not one of the great untold stories of our time. Yet, even with staunch advocacy by public health groups plus the desire of those in the seafood supply chain to provide more seafood, our seafood consumption doesn’t grow. Our panel of communications and branding experts will explore how best to approach discussions with consumers that result in increased seafood consumption. We will address how to discover the important reasons underlying consumers’ reticence to buy seafood and how we build conversations to allay concerns. We will also explore ways the industry may grasp the initiative to create new and different discussions about seafood. Lastly, we will examine the different ways our industry approaches positioning for farmed and wild fish and how that positioning affects our desire to increase seafood consumption.
